Michio Kaku adalah profesor fisika teori di City University of New York dan merupakan salah satu pencetus string field theory.

Sejak era ’80an, Michio Kaku telah aktif menjadi komunikator sains yang produktif. Sebagai seorang fisikawan teori, selain melakukan riset dan mengajar di beberapa universitas, ia juga menulis banyak buku sains populer, dan kerap muncul di berbagai acara TV, radio, atau film bertema sains, menjadi narasumber atau bahkan pembawa acaranya.

Saat ini ia aktif menjadi koresponden sains acara This Morning di channel CBS, pembawa acara program radio Science Fantastic dan Explorations in Science, juga beberapa acara TV untuk BBC dan Discovery and Science.

Sebagai komunikator sains, ia juga banyak menulis buku fisika populer, di antaranya Beyond Einstein (1987), Hyperspace (1994), Physics of the Impossible (2008), Physics of the Future (2011), The Future of the Mind (2014), The Future of Humanity (2018), The God Equation (2021), dan yang terbaru Quantum Supremacy (2023).
